What is resin bound aggregate.
A resin bound surface is a type of decorative and durable surfacing solution made by mixing natural aggregates (like gravel or stone) with a clear resin binder. This mixture is then trowelled onto a prepared surface to create a smooth and permeable finish. Key Features of Resin Bound Driveways: Permeable (SUDS compliant): Water drains through the surface, helping to reduce puddling and comply with drainage regulations. Smooth Finish: Unlike loose gravel, the stones are bound together, making it wheelchair, bike, and pushchair friendly. Low Maintenance: Requires occasional sweeping and power washing to keep clean. Aesthetic Appeal: Available in a wide range of colors and stone types to suit different styles.Durable: When properly installed, they are long-lasting and resistant to cracking, weeds, and frost damage.

Absolutely you can. Our products are perfectly suited to recovering existing drives/patios and paths.

Regular Maintenance Tips
1. Sweeping
  • Use a stiff broom or leaf blower to remove:
    • Leaves, dirt, moss, and debris.
  • Prevents organic matter buildup that can block drainage or cause staining.
2. Washing
  • Use a pressure washer or hose with a fan-jet attachment:
    • Max pressure: 150 bar (approx. 2200 psi).
    • Keep nozzle at least 300mm from the surface.
  • Helps clear out debris in the pores and prevents moss growth.
  • Avoid direct, concentrated high-pressure streams.
3. Weed Control (As Needed)
  • Weeds generally don’t grow through the surface, but seeds can settle on top.
  • Use a domestic weed killer or manually remove surface weeds.
4. Stain Removal
  • Oil stains: Use degreasing cleaner.
  • Rust or organic stains: Mild household cleaner or proprietary resin-safe product.
  • Always test cleaners on a small area first.
Can I install it myself.
To ensure that you get the best from your installation we only supply to Vuba and Resin Rock certified installers.
How does the water drain through and will I need a drain.
VUBA resin bound systems are fully SuDS ( suitable urban drainage systems ) approved.
this can negate the need for drainage systems to be installed. The water will flow through the surface and naturally filter through the ground as it naturally did prior to the installation.

  1. Mixture of Resin and Aggregates:
    • The resin is mixed evenly with clean, dry aggregates (stones), coating each stone without clogging the gaps between them.
    • Once laid and cured, the surface has tiny voids (gaps) between the stones.
  2. These voids allow water to pass through, making the surface fully porous—unlike concrete or tarmac.
  3. Water soaks into the sub-base underneath, which should also be permeable, like a:
    • MOT Type 3 hardcore base, or
    • Open-textured asphalt or porous concrete.
Benefits of Permeability:
  • Prevents puddles and surface water.
  • Reduces pressure on stormwater systems.
  • Meets Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) regulations.
⚠️ Important: If the resin is applied incorrectly (too much resin or wet/dirty stones), the pores can become blocked, reducing permeability. If the base isn’t porous, water won’t drain away properly. For this reason we only supply to trained installers.
